Studio Tour: How 7 People (and one toddler) Work in 528 Square Feet
What To Keep in Your Wardrobe Styling Kit
I know what you are thinking, “there must be a typo”. No typo here, we run 2 fashion brands; The House of Perna and Neon Bohemians (plus this blog) in a 528 square foot studio. There are actually even more people who work in here, if I am being completely honest (we have a lot of freelancers in from time to time as well), but the maximum number of team members we have in at any time is 7. We have realized that this is our maximum capacity before it gets insanely claustrophobic. When our last studio became in inhabitable due to toxic fumes and our landlord refusing to help us - long, horrible story - we found ourselves debating if we cared more about space or location as we scrambled to relocate. Our last space was the perfect size at 1400 square feet but off the beaten path. We could have another large studio or we could move to something downtown and walkable to restaurants and shops. We found a great space in a really cool art incubator called the Arts Warehouse and we chose LOCATION over square footage. This meant a lot of things had to be sold, given away or stored in my garage. The rest had to be strategically placed in the studio.
House of Perna Fashion Show at Alt Summit - Guest Post by Brooke Michelle
You decided you want to be a stylist, check! You have your first client, check! And now you are ready to get to work. Oops! You have no idea what to put in your kit. Even worse, you don’t even realize you need one!
After working in the fashion industry for over 11 years and as a stylist for 9, I have learned a TON of tips and tricks along the way. I have styled all of our shoots for my brands The House of Perna & Neon Bohemians, dressed celebrity clients, and even styled manikins for Bloomingdales and Nordstrom. Moral of the story, I have styled for all different types of events and live and inanimate people. There are slight varieties for each, but the core supplies remain the same.
Delray Beach Fashion Week Recap
Hi loves, readers and fellow admirers of Amanda Perna! This is what I hope to be the first of many guest posts! My name is Brooke Michelle and I am a Baltimore, Maryland based photographer. I first met Amanda Perna when I had the chance to attend Alt Summit in March of this year!
Delray Beach Fashion Week is by far one of my favorite local events in the year here in Delray Beach. It is a fashion show that takes over our downtown and Models, Salons, Shops & Designers all work together to put on a fabulous show! The best part is we raise money for the Achievement Centers for Children and Families!
