I still cant believe that I am 33. In my head I am still 21. I think I’ll always feel this way, which I guess is a good thing. This past year has been a rollercoaster for sure. I simultaneously had my best and worst month to date business wise in the same year. I was given some amazing opportunities, and also told “no” to things that I felt were a sure thing. This past year, my husband and I were fortunate enough to buy our first home which we are slowly transforming into our dream home. It really is amazing just ow much can happen in 365 days.

I learned a ton in the past year, and I would love to share some of these lessons with you. Hopefully we can make this the best year EVER together!

Lesson #1- Be Grateful-

Life is not perfect, but if you change the way you look at things, you will always be on top.

Having gratitude is the best way to have a great day. When you focus on what you DO have rather than what you don’t, I swear it is magic. Your problems seem much smaller, and your life feels much richer. You start to realize how lucky you are, and all that you have. Sure, some days just downright suck, but even on those days, there is something that went right, and made you happy.

I know it sounds silly to some people, but at the end of every day I try to think of 3 things that I am grateful for. It helps reframe the way that you looked at that day, and helps you start the next day off on the right foot.

You also have to remember that you have things that other people are wishing for. Its great to have goals and want bigger and better, trust me I do too, but being thankful for what you do have makes it easier to work towards getting and achieving whats next.

The things I am most grateful for in the past year are: buying my first home, finishing my first book, & of course my family and friends who constantly show me love and support. What are your three?

Lesson #2- Self Love-

You HAVE to take care of yourself!

You hear a lot of people lately talking about self care, and how you need to “treat yo’ self”. It is so important!! For years I just selflessly did everything for everyone else, and completely neglected what I needed. I thought I was doing the right thing by not being selfish and giving to everyone first. It turns out that what I was actually doing was wearing myself down and not having enough energy because I wasn’t taking care of myself properly.

As the old saying goes, you cant give from an empty cup. Help yourself so that you are able to help others. Im not saying that you need to spend a million dollars shopping or do anything that causes you financial stress, but I do mean that you should paint your nails, take a bath, drink some tea or doe something that makes you feel happy and relaxed.

I have started having a glass of wine with a bubble bath once a week, or when it’s nice outside I love sitting outside. Both of these help me to clear my mind without distractions and be able to think about what I am grateful for.

Lesson #3- Know your why-

You cant be everything to everyone.

I used to always say yes to EVERYTHING. Any favor I was asked, any event I was invited to, any special project I was asked to collaborate on. I thought by opening all the doors it would lead to where I wanted to go. WRONG. It led to me feeling exhausted, burnt out, taken advantage of and unhappy.

I learned that there has to be a reason. You have to figure out how is this serving you. For me I break it down into three reasons. It has to either contribute to a cause I believe in, feed my soul, or check something off of my list of goals.

If you give your time and energy to things that mean something to you, you will do a much better job because you have more time and you will do a better job because it is more meaningful.

I have picked 3 charities I want to spend more time helping, figured out the opportunities that do work and make sense, and found the friends who really bring me joy who I try to spend time with on a regular basis.

Lesson #4- Perseverance-

Keep pushing even when it’s tough.

I know when you are in the thick of it, it may feel easier to give up on your dream, quit the job you hate, or want to just run away from your problems. DON’T DO IT! I promise that pushing through the rain eventually brings you clear skies. I had one month this year where everything was a mess, collapsing around me and I had no idea how I was going to be ok. Fast forward another month, and I landed some deals that were a dream, we found our perfect home, and my business started thriving more than I thought possible.

If I had quit because it was hard and seemed like there was no light in sight, I would have always wondered what if. YOU’VE GOT THIS!!! Don’t give up, pivot, push or plug along, whatever is necessary at that moment, it really is true that where there is a will, there is a way.

Sending you so much, light, love, and success my friend!
